Wedding season rolls on in full force as the April showers bring us into the gorgeous spring months. Flowers are blooming, and there's no better time to celebrate the vibrant colors of spring--including the magical purple hues of our latest bride's perfectly spring themed celebration. Holly Baker and Alex McCloskey were happy to celebrate their marriage this past weekend, April 9th, at Christ Methodist Church, with the reception following at the Pink Palace. We were lucky enough to share in their experience and get to know them over the past few months.

Holly and Alex met through mutual friends in 2007, and the bride credits their romantic connection to her best friend, Emily, who arranged their first meeting. Emily did such a great job playing matchmaker that Holly commented, "She says that our first born child must be named after her--either Emily or Emilio."

Alex popped the question in July 2010, with a little bit of last minute planning. Holly says this was the only way that he could surprise her, due to her family's struggle to keep the big news a secret...a trait that she comes by naturally. After receiving her dad's blessing that afternoon (talk about cutting it close!), Alex took Holly to a romantic dinner, followed by a return to her apartment, where Emily had decorated the entire living space with candles and rose petals. Not only was she involved in their initial meeting, but she helped Alex with the big proposal, too. Now that's a great friend! Holly is proud that Alex involved her best friend, and is excited for the involvement that Emily will continue to have in their lives, newlyweds and beyond.

As we speak, the couple is basking in the rays of tropical sunshine in St. Lucia. We're a little envious! "At this point, we are not sure if we are more exciting about the wedding day or the week-long vacation!" says Holly. I guess we'll have to wait for the verdict on this one. We know they are enjoying paradise, and wish them all the happiness in the world as they begin their lives together. Congratulations Holly and Alex!

A Bella Vita Registry- In Holly's Words

BV: How has bella vita treated you so far?
Holly: We have had a wonderful experience with Bella Vita.  We went in for an initial appointment to look at everything the store offered for dinnerware – we had been EVERYWHERE and had not found one set that we liked.  We were pleased to find not only a great selection of colors and patterns but also very personal service.  When you are shopping with your future husband – picking out dinnerware is not always easy as it sounds.  We came back just days later to start the registry – we knew that Bella Vita had the best products in the market (we seriously looked all over Memphis!) and that their attention to us during this exciting time was unmatched .  Stephanie helped to guide us through all the pieces offered and helped us to choose which things we needed.

BV: Why did you choose Bella Vita over other boutiques?
Holly: We chose Bella Vita because of the service the staff provides.  I felt confident that they would be easy to work with and also reliable when it came to ordering or changing anything.  I also wanted to find a place that my wedding guests would feel comfortable ordering from and asking for help while at the store.

BV: Which aspect of the registry do you like the most?
Holly: I liked the initial appointment best.  That was the fun part.   I also love that I can call them at any time and make changes or additions to the registry and they know my name and my mom’s name and treat us like friends.
