Have you ever met Memphis designers Lisa Miles and Anne Roberts? If you have, you’ll know why these two were chosen to decorate a child’s bedroom at the Decorator Showhouse at Carrier Hall. They outdid themselves, even when faced with floor-to-ceiling balloon-print wallpaper that would have sent us running! These photos give you an insider’s look at their creative work at the showhouse. If you’d like to learn more about this dynamic duo, visit their website at signaturespacesmemphis.com.

The ladies’ piece de resistance is this custom canopy above each twin bed. The silk adds the elegant touch the house calls for, while the colors and coordinating patterns tie the wallpaper and accessories together into one beautiful package!

Do the vintage toys warm your heart at first glance? We stood and admired each one on opening night.

We think you need to see for yourself their work, along with our fabulous kitchen, keeping room and butler’s pantry, so if you’d like our LAST pair of showhouse tickets, leave a comment with your answer to the following question. Cross your fingers and maybe you’ll win!

Q. What is your favorite theme in a child’s room?

The winning entry will be chosen at random on Tuesday, April 20, at 5 p.m. CST. Good luck! We can’t wait to read your answers!

Have we mentioned how much we love Vintage Gypsy Jewelry? I know we have, but just for the record, we LOVE Vintage Gypsy! The bold colors, unique chains and vintage pendants bring certain “spunk” to the store that we could not live without.

Once you have had a chance to meet Paige, the artist behind Vintage Gypsy, you can see just where the jewelry gets its flair. The creativity Paige possesses is mind-blowing, to say the least. She springs into the store bright and early brimming with new display ideas, new jewelry ideas and myriads of other ideas- that she would eagerly accomplish if there were 48 hours to every day!

Paige searches this country (and others) to find the most unique vintage jewelry the past has to offer. Anything that catches her eye finds it way back to her home studio where it’s poked and prodded until it is transformed into a statement making pendant, eye-catching earrings, or maybe even a ring or bracelet. One of the most alluring aspects of Vintage Gypsy (besides, well…everything) is that no two pieces will ever be identical. The beading, the pendants, and a lot of the time, even the chain had a previous life as a different accessory.

Like all the displays in our store, the Vintage Gypsy display is constantly changing. Paige dreams up elaborate and eye-catching displays that somehow become a reality. The "Enchanted Forest" Spring display is a creative mix of toad stools, branches and burlap that showcases the new jewelry perfectly.

The new Spring line features brightly colored floral pendants, leather chains and and vintage beading. With each new piece you can't help but to reach out and touch it- the dimension and detailing is that impressive. But don't take our word for it, come on in and see for yourself why Vintage Gypsy is a bv favorite!

If you can't make it in to see us, you can see select Vintage Gypsy pieces on our website. These pieces are constantly changing due to the handmade nature of the jewelry, so check back often to keep updated! For an added bonus, Paige is in the store today (Friday, April 16) and tomorrow (Saturday, April 17th) from 11 am to 5 pm showing off new spring and summer designs!

Catch us next week for another of our faves!

Our Latest Project!

Wow! What a month.
Not only are we filling up the store nicely with new spring items, but we’ve also been busy taking the Bella Vita flair on the road—to The Decorator’s Showhouse at the newly renovated grand Carrier Hall in beautiful Central Gardens in Midtown Memphis.  Along with several designers like Virginia Rippee and Vance Boyd, we were invited to be part of the showhouse, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results.

We hit the ground running right after being assigned the kitchen and sitting area, and the butler’s pantry. These cozy spots offer the perfect places to show off some of our Casafina, Good Earth, and our (if we may say so ourselves) clever and always beautiful ways to arrange tables and vignettes.

Here’s a sneak peek, to get you inspired to head down to Carrier Hall. (It’s on the market, by the way, all 9,000 square feet of pure exquisiteness, down to its hand-carved mantles, lush outdoor gardens and large indoor pool, plus guest house!)

We took these shots after a very long day of setting up, arranging and putting everything in its place. They’re little bits of eye candy to get you down to see the real thing; trust us, this is one “home tour” you won’t want to miss.

Good Earth Pottery and Meridian by Casafina blend so well together we couldn't help but put them together as place settings. Megan did an amazing job at blending the colors, mixing in the copper votive holders (used to hold the place cards...how smart!) and basically creating a work of art!

Local potter Erich Emmenegger made this one of a kind vase for the center of the island. Photos do not do it justice, and if you go to the show for only one reason, let this be it.

The butler's pantry was the perfect place to display the Good Earth and Casafina dinnerware we used in our place settings.

The butler's pantry (again) turned out to be a very versatile space- with room for our dinnerware, serving pieces, unique drinkware and even a sitting area with a Sarah Robertson painting!

Just off the kitchen and pantry there is this unique sitting area. What a great place to have your guests mix and mingle while you put the finishing touches on dinner!

Wednesday, April 7th was the opening gala for the Showhouse. We had a great evening socializing and viewing the rest of house with it's finishing touches....despite that crazy storm!

A fundraiser for The Brooks Museum, The Decorator’s Showhouse is in full swing, open until April 25. Tickets are $15. Worth every penny, for every bit of inspiration.

Call 385-3241 for more information. A boutique and tearoom also are open during the show.

Enjoy!
