A Beautiful Cause

It's the season of giving, the most wonderful time of the year. How appropriate then, that we celebrate in true fashion with the kick off of a brand new charitable cause. Did we mention that this charity involves new apparel for you? We're proud to introduce to you our new campaign, aptly title "A Beautiful Cause."

So what's this cause all about, you ask? Twice a year, we'll collaborate with one of our fantastic artists to design a t-shirt specifically with your style in mind. The shirts will be sold right here at Bella Vita, and will be available for purchase during the 6 months that the chosen artists' campaign runs. Most importantly, each artist will choose a charity that is near and dear to their heart, and at least $10 of proceeds from each t-shirt sale will be given back to that particular organization.

T-Shirt Sneak Peak The initial design after the artwork was scanned! The full t-shirt will be unveiled at our Holiday Open House on Thursday, Dec. 3.

EMYo Artist Charity Shirt

We're excited to debut our first shirt at this year's Holiday Open House on December 1st. Our first featured artist is the incredibly talented Emily Ozier, and we can't wait to show you her fashionable creation. She will even join us at the Holiday Open House to introduce her latest work of art in person! To top it all off, she has chosen to donate all profits to Blood: Water Mission in Africa, a cause that she has supported and believed in for quite some time now. The objective of the charity is to create awareness and funds needed to ensure clean blood and water in sub-Saharan Africa, an area highly affected by the HIV virus. EMYO's shirt will be available until June 1st, when we'll begin a new campaign by unveiling our second featured artist.

Why not shop for a cause this holiday season? We hope you'll help us as we give back some of our many blessings to those in need. Plus, there's no better way to become a bit more familiar with the amazing local artists that we're so lucky to know!

Feed Your Sweet Tooth

We've made it through Thanksgiving! It's hard to believe it has already come and gone, and now Christmas is upon us in full force. Just in case you didn't eat enough pecan pie this week, we have a great cake recipe to share with you, straight from one of our special customer's collection. This delicacy is not only easy to make, but we know it will be a crowd pleaser and satisfy every sweet tooth during this holiday season.

When it's finished, a vibrant Erich Emmenegger cake plate will be the perfect display piece for this tasty masterpiece. Present it to all of your friends and family in style, and watch as they try to retain self control as the scent of freshly baked cake overwhelms their senses!

For the Cake

Spray pan with Pam

1 pkg plain yellow or vanilla cake mix

1 pkg vanilla instant pudding

4 lg eggs

3/4 cup Baileys Irish Cream liqueur

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1/4 cup water

For the Glaze

8 Tbsp (1 stick) of butter

1 cup of sugar

1/4 cup Baileys Irish Cream liqueur

Vanilla ice cream for serving

1. Make the cake: Place rack in center of oven and preheat to 350. Spray 12 cup bundt pan with Pam.

2. Place the cake mix, pudding mix, eggs, 3/4 cup liqueur, oil and water ina  large bowl. Beat the mixer on low until well combined. Increase speed and beat for 1 1/2 minutes. The batter should look smooth and thick. Pour into pan and place in oven.

3. Bake the cake until the top springs back 48-52 min. Transfer cake to wire rack and let cool 10-15 min.

4. Meanwhile, make the glaze. Place the butter, sugar and 1/4 cup water into saucepan over med/high heat, stirring. Boil for 4-5 min stirring constantly. Remove saucepan from heat and stir in 1/4 cup liqueur.

5. Invert the cake onto serving plate. Using a long skewer, poke 16 holes in the top of the cake. Spoon the glaze, scooping up what collects on the plate and spooning it back over the top of the cake. Slice the cake and serve it with vanilla ice cream.

Thank you, Cynthia for sharing this amazing recipe and photograph with us!
